Vegetable Steamed dumplings
Generally wonton wrappers are used for dumplings but I tried this with wheat flour with spinach dough.
This is very healthy recipe because it contains lots of vegetables and wheat flour. You can replace soy sauce and chili sauce with oyster or fish sauce for different taste. Also you can replace spinach puree with carrot puree. Carrot puree gives you orange color dough. You can also add egg while making dough to make more nutritious dumplings. Also add cheese to filling for variation.
Ingredients:
Vegetables finely chopped (beans, carrot, red and yellow peppers, corn, mushrooms etc)
1 onion finely chopped
Ginger garlic finely chopped
1 celery stick finely chopped
Fresh parsley or basil leaves
Tofu grated
Soy sauce
Chili sauce
Sugar
Salt
Herbs (mixed herbs or oregano and parsley)
Olive oil
Black pepper powder
Method:
Dough: Blanch spinach and make puree. Add this puree to wheat flour, add salt and make firm dough.
Filling: Heat olive oil in pan, add chopped garlic and then add finely chopped onion; sauté 2 min till tender .Add herbs and vegetables and finely chopped celery. Add salt, sauces and black pepper .cook for 3-5 min. Add grated tofu, fresh parsley or basil leaves if available. Make dumplings (refer picture) with filling and dough and steam this dumpling in steamer pot for 4-5 min.
Serve hot with some salad.
